Reassignment not demotion, says outgoing PNP spokesman Sindac

Outgoing Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac on Sunday clarified that he was not demoted after he was assigned as head of PNP's logistics unit.

"Hindi naman demotion 'yan. Naka-program 'yan sa career advancement management [ko]. Nakaplano 'yan," he told GMA News Online in a phone interview.

The PNP's leadership is facing a challenge as its chief, Director General Alan Purisima, faces plunder, bribery, and graft complaints stemming from alleged irregularities in the renovation of the PNP chief's official quarters inside Camp Crame.

Sindac said the controversies rocking the PNP as an institution has nothing to do with his reassignment.

"I would really have to move," he said, adding that he does not like to "stagnate" as he nears the retirement age. He has three years before retirement.

Sindac's reassignment as director of the Logistics Support Service was announced on Saturday.

He will officially start his duty at his new post on Monday.

On the other hand, Sindac said the beleaguered PNP Chief is already back from a seminar in Bogota, Colombia, adding that Purisima is ready to answer all the allegations thrown against him.

"Talaga namang ang kanyang plano ay sasagutin niya lahat [ng kontrobersiya] sa tamang venue," Sindac said.

Asked if Purisima will show up at the Senate probe into the alleged controversy at the PNP,  Sindac said Purisima will "gladly attend" the hearing if he will be invited.
