PNP sees irregularities in supposed Revilla, Jinggoy attendance during Enrile party

The PNP on Tuesday said it has found irregularities in the supposed attendance of detained Senators Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada during the 91st birthday celebration of Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile last February 14 inside the PNP General Hospital.

In a press statement, the PNP said that based on an internal investigation conducted by the PNP Headquarters Support Service, it found that Revilla and Estrada were indeed taken to the PNP General Hospital by their custodians to undergo an "urgent medical checkup."

But instead of being taken to the emergency ward, both senators were brought to the Special Ward, "which is approximately 85 meters farther inside the hospital compound," the PNP said.

On Thursday, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas announced that custodial officials of the PNP Headquarters Support Service, including its head Chief Supt. Alberto Supapo, have been ordered relieved for allegedly allowing Revilla and Estrada to attend the 91-year-old Enrile's birthday party.

Roxas added that charges will be filed against the concerned officials.

"Nakita sa ating imbestigasyon na may mga hindi pagsunod sa patakaran ng PNP, at sa kadahilanang iyon ay pina-relieve natin ang mga kinauukulan at responsible sa lapses na ito," he said.

'Court will decide'

Meanwhile, the PNP said they will leave it to the anti-graft court to decide on any necessary actions on the continued detention of the three senators under the PNP custody.

"If at all there were any violations of the conditions for detention committed by any of the detained senators, is up to the Sandiganbayan to determine," it added.

The PNP said it will provide the court with all the necessary documents on the activities of the detained senators.
