We were recently given the opportunity to interview the co-founder of Fenris Lair Studio who are making Untold Universe, a space based voxel game that leaves survival behind to focus on more important matters. Though they have only 9 days remaining in their Kickstarter campaign they have plans to carry on with the MMO which is currently in Alpha.
[Luke Siuty, IndieGameMagazine] A new MMORPG is in development, and this one is not about dragons and magic; Untold Universe takes the players to space to explore a vast, uncharted expanse and colonize it.
A French indie team of five, Fenris Lair Studio, is building a voxel game that hosts thousands of players exploring space and living on planets. Everyone starts out as a fresh pioneer, equipped only with a Valhalla Digital starter pack, bent on discovering the Border, a ripe, new world to adventure in.
Untold Universe is a Massively Multiplayer Sandbox where you’ll be able to travel through an infinite universe full of voxel based-planetoids for you to explore and exploit.
The small planets of Untold Universe look excellent, like Minecraft versions of Super Mario Galaxy’s or Universim’s planets. You’ll be able to gather resources from these planets and use them to build anything from factories to spaceships which you can use to explore the galaxy.
Wow, a lot of Minecraft-esque universe games are coming out. Will be very interesting to see how each of them play and are different from each other.
