Your Money at Work

With you by our side, the Canadian Cancer Society is leading the fight against all cancers. Because of you, we have more impact, against more cancers in more communities than any other cancer charity in Canada. Your generous donations fund:

  • life-saving cancer research
  • information and support services for cancer patients and their families
  • prevention efforts that reduce your risk of cancer
  • advocacy initiatives that protect the health of all Canadians

Last year, with the support of our donors, we invested $58.9 million in the fight for life. Highlights include:

  • We funded $21.3 million in life-saving research that is transforming the way cancer is prevented, diagnosed, and treated.
  • Our volunteers drove 15,600 cancer patients on 197,000 trips to life-saving treatment appointments.
  • Our Cancer Information Service empowered 24,598 cancer patients with the information they need to better understand their diagnosis and make informed decisions about their health.
  • Our specially trained volunteers reached 15,380 people through conversations and presentations on the importance of early detection and cancer screening.

About the Society

As Canada’s longest standing and most trusted cancer charity, the Canadian Cancer Society has been making a difference in the lives of Canadians for 75 years. We are a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.

By taking a stand against cancer, we work to:

  • Save lives. Our researchers continue to discover new information that is transforming diagnosis and treatment.
  • Stop cancer before it starts. Our researchers are leading the way to find ways to prevent cancer while we promote healthy lifestyles and advocate for policies that protect the public.
  • Ensure no one faces cancer alone. We offer community services and support to those living with cancer and their families and friends.
  • Empower Canadians. We provide credible information on cancer to help them make informed choices about their health.

Where do the funds raised at OktoberFEAST go?

The proceeds from OktoberFEAST help the Canadian Cancer Society have more impact, against more cancers in more communities than any other cancer charity in Canada. You are helping us to:

  • Fund life-saving cancer research. More people are surviving cancer than ever before. Today, 62% of people diagnosed with cancer will survive compared to only 25% in the 1940s when we began funding research.
  • Stop cancer before it starts. Our researchers are leading the fight to prevent cancer while we promote healthy lifestyles and advocate for policies that protect our health.
  • Ensure no one facing cancer is alone by offering compassionate services and support to those living with cancer and their families and friends.
  • Empower Canadians with information about cancer to help them make informed choices about their health.
