Dragon Ball Xenoverse Game's Piccolo Promo Streamed

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Piccolo introduces story for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 game shipping this month

Bandai Namco Games began streaming a promotional video for its Dragon Ball Xenoverse fighting game on Wednesday featuring narration by Piccolo (voiced by Toshio Furukawa)

Kaioshin of Time: The time when your power is needed is now.
Piccolo: Hey all of you out there. Do you know who I am? That's right, it's me. I'll tell you why I'm appearing with this kind of timing. Listen up. The plan is that for three videos, we're going to introduce you all to Dragon Ball Xenoverse. First up is me. For the first introduction, let's look at the story.
Text: Episode 1 – An Unknown World Brought About by the Destruction of History
Piccolo: Wait, what do you mean by destruction of history?
Kaioshin of Time: Yahoo!
Trunks: This is a very important person who manages the flow of time throughout the universe.
Piccolo: Seems like this girl is called the Kaioshin of Time. And apparently, we can see the events of history in that scroll. Well, fine. First, it's time to blast through this guy! Hold him tight! Y-You moron!! Why did you dodge!? What's going on!? Well, now everyone's down for the count. Also, what's up with those eyes?
Mira: Heheh… There are lots of delicious raw materials here. I'll use all of you with nothing left, don't you worry.
Piccolo: Who the heck are you two!? It looks like those two are stealing energy from us by travelling through different time periods. Just what are they scheming!? To be honest, we can't do anything about this on our own… What should we do…?
Piccolo: …I've got it! Hey you, don't you want to lend us a hand as one of the warriors of the Dragon Balls? All right! Time to fight together! First, start the game by being my apprentice. I'll teach you my special move. I hear that you've also become an apprentice to other people. You've just started. Hey, when did you learn the Kamehameha!? Your appearance has changed too! I can't believe you're just moving the game along on your own! Don't be deepening friendships with the others without me!
Raditz: You punk!
Goku: S-Stop it!!
Piccolo: Anyway, we're going to go and fix history, one point at a time.
Goku: I guess you'll fight with us, huh?
Piccolo: Looks like you can handle yourself pretty well. I think we can do something about this problem if you're part of the team.
Goku: Now, Piccolo! Do it!!
Piccolo: This is the first step to fixing history!
Piccolo: We ended up making Goku die with Raditz as planned, but Dragon Ball Xenoverse seems pretty interesting. Hey, you! You did pretty good. Hey wait, where did you go!? Darn, I bet you went to go increase your friendships with the others. AGAIN.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse will ship for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles in Japan on February 5, and then in the United States on February 24 and in Europe on February 27. It will also debut on PC via Steam on February 27.

The exclusive day one edition in the United States will include Frieza Soldier battle suits and Super Saiyan IV Vegeta as a playable character. The first copies in Japan will include a download code for Akira Toriyama's manga hero Jaco the Galactic Patrolman as a playable character. Other early Japanese bonuses include a download code for a Master Roshi set of character customization, a Trunks:Xeno battle card for the Dragon Ball Heroes game, and a serial code to use Trunks:Xeno in the Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle smartphone game.

Bandai Namco Games unveiled the game in Japan last May and announced in June that the game will receive a Western release. In Japan, the game will feature an original video anime (OVA) relating to the events in the game.
