How did you come up with the name?

One night I was out in the city with girlfriends and after being in heels all night my feet were killing me. As we were walking down the street I decided to pull my flip flops out of my tote and switched shoes. My friends were already barefoot & complaining, walking the dirty streets of Manhattan. How disgusting is that?? They were so jealous… They called me “The Flip Flop Bitch”! It was at that point that I realized there was a need for all women to save their feet & look good doing it.

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?

This is our home, new businesses need to keep costs low, so we just have our website :-)

Chic fold up totes & panties

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

Getting the word out about our business online. It’s hard when there’s no storefront. People have to give new businesses a chance & since we created a new category, CHIC & DRESSY fold up totes, people didn’t know what to make of our product at first.

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?

No! I knew I had to do this no matter what!

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

Our bags were mentioned on z100’s morning show with Carla Marie as the “what’s trending” item of the day. We also were just featured in an Emmy gift bag!

What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?

Customers suggested adding certain pockets which we did. Also diff prints

How do you deal with difficult customers?

Our reputation is everything to us so we are patient and understanding and try to make them happy.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

We’ve donated bags to women’s organizations, breast cancer & memorial fundraisers. We always donate.

The plan behind this series at Patch is to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.

This is as much about supporting local businesses as it is about celebrating the places and faces that make our community special.
