That's something that Dark Deception has done; just ask Markiplier and PewDiePie, both of whom have favorably covered the game in the past. ABG first covered Dark Deception almost a year ago and found it to be “the creepiest, freakiest Pac-Man game you’re likely to play”. A lot has changed since then, and the game has had a significant graphical and audio overhaul, but those sinister Murder Monkeys are still there, lurking behind every corner, ready to scare the living daylights out of you.
Remember cancelled Kickstarter Dark Deception? The game is back on the platform, coming on strong having passed Steam Greenlight, with a lower goal, more platforms, and even a playable demo.

The classic gameplay of moving through a maze to collect pellets and avoid ghosts is simple - and classic. Dark Deception is an upcoming horror game... so how does it connect to Pac-Man? Well, it takes that simplistic gameplay of "collect items and avoid bad things" and sets it in a variety of creepy landscapes. Of course, the things chasing after you are a tad more frightening than colorful ghosts with cutesy names."
