Excellent

The tools continue to improve

as the always have throughout previous console generations.

Looking forward to a great holiday with some great games

4A Games gave a very good interview to Eurogamer explaining what those improvements might look like on Xbox One. In the end though I have an issue with PC comparison because there are too many different combinations. When people say PC is the best, it facetious because one rig (mine) will outperform the Xbox, but so many others will not.

Come on, that's such ridiculous reasoning. When they say "the PC version is best" it's absolutely true.

If you ask the question "which version do I get if I want the best graphics and performance?", the answer is "the PC version".

There's only one PC version. Every PC gamer buys the same exact piece of software and how it runs is up to them.

Another thing to point out is that even if you can't max out a game today, that very same game will look better with each future upgrade. So that's another reason to talk about what that version looks like at max settings. Even if you can't run it at those settings today, it's still the version you bought and it will likely look like that with your next upgrade.

In any case, it doesn't take any kind of crazy powerful PC to beat the console versions. Gamers with mid range or high end PCs will enjoy those kinds of graphics. And those with low end rigs already know not to expect the best graphics.

@starchild

I find it cringeworthy (at best) that no one agreed with your statement , which cannot be more accurate , simple logic. PC was never game system that was meant to play games like console does, lately things started to improve a lot. We see PC that only costs $150-200 more than console , and run games with better performance and quality most of the time. Remember 2005-2006 , PC that could run same as consoles costed double the console price. Also PC games are always so cheap these days

user56695103528d ago (Edited 3528d ago )

Starchild they will never agree. They are running out of ammo. They want their console to look like the most power thing created they will spread bs to make this. You hit the nail right on the head and look at all the disagrees. By the end of the day I say you'll have 15 agrees and 75 disagrees.

ovnipc3528d ago

Imagine what a masterpiece of game 4a would make with a big budget like cod or dice has. If i was ea i will hire this guys to make a bad ass game.

CernaML3528d ago

NOOOOOOO

EA will ruin them like they do with every developer they acquire.

I agree though. Im amazed at how good these games are despite having a fraction of the budget compared to other AAA games.

no_more_heroes3529d ago

The PC version looks...wider...

salmon_slapped3529d ago

Saw that too. thought it looked like it was on a curved screen or something.

MRMagoo1233529d ago

prob has the field of view up.

tee_bag2423528d ago

It's an increased FOV (Field of View). Consoles sometimes decrease this (Narrower) so less things needs to be drawn to screen and the game will run better.

SaturdayNightBeaver3528d ago

wow , you really didn't read the explanation uploader posted in comments?

DefenderOfDoom23528d ago

I hope, more FPS console games, will have FOV options in the future !

kingduqc3528d ago

thanks Field of view. I can'T stand looking down a tunnel with 60 fov.

Future_20153528d ago

its called field of view slider only on PC

Tsar4ever013528d ago (Edited 3528d ago )

I think It's because the PC ratio is in 1080P and the Xb1 is in 912p, I think that's the reason for the differences in the FOV. Now put in the Ps4's version and lets see if it's FOV is like the PC or like the XB1?

The biggest noticeable difference in the wheel turning part. The tessellation is clearly turn off on Xbox. Look at the roundness of the wheel. Also this is youtube running at 30fps compressed. I play on PC with 60fps always. 30fps is not playable to me anymore.

HeWhoWalks3528d ago

It's 60fps on Xbox One, so no issue there.

AndrewLB3528d ago

Neither PS4 or Xbone use tessellation in this game... plus after comparing the graphics in this video to my PC, it seems that video does not have the PC set to "Very High". It looks much closer to "high". The PC version also has SSAA turned OFF, Advanced PhysX is OFF, and the Ambient Occlusion looks lacking as well.

One of the biggest features on the PC version is the Advanced PhysX. It adds real smoke that flows around you and other characters as you walk through it, destructible objects, massive particle effects when you blow stuff up, sparks that bounce all over the place, flowing dynamic cloth effects, etc.

Check out this short video: http://youtu.be/VafzR7JqO2I

You think he d turned all these settings off to make it look closer to the xbone version?

I read that Metro Last Light on Ultra settings is one of the best looking games ever made, so I assume it's safe to say that the xbone doesn't quite compare. But, it looks good. I just wonder how long these consoles will be relevant. I wish instead of a PS4 slim they came out w/ a Fatty, w/ limited upgraded hardware and games that run at minimum but also at a maximum setting. It wouldn't b too hard..and would extend the console life. Obviously not until 2016-17.

neogeo3528d ago

Yeah have you tired turning that advances PhysX on??? It destroys my computer. I run 2x R9 270x in crossfire with 2400mhz ram and a highly oced CPU in a big full tower case with 11 fans and it still destroys my frame rate. I'm not sure if this game is like super future proof or it's just bad programming. I think I will need 2 titanZ in SLI to turn that option on. WTF

cyhm31123528d ago

they purposely zoomed in in the pc version to make it look less detailed, how biased it is.

porkChop3528d ago

They didn't zoom in, the PC version just has a wider field of view.

AndrewLB3528d ago

That video has the settings on "High" for the PC. Not "very high".

Here is what the opening screen looks like with the game MAXED out at 1200p.

traumadisaster3528d ago

I've been at 4k for a year and a half and can tell you it does not look like the consoles.

Wow, look at you draping yourself in velvet! Who cares what you got? I've been been living the last ten years on Gilligan's Island and I've been playing on coconut-o-vision!
