Explore History On Brick Library Group Bus Trip

The day trip to the Hudson Valley will visit home of the author of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Washington Irving

The Friends of the Brick Library is offering a bus trip to the Historic Hudson Valley on Wednesday, May 20.

The day will begin with a visit to Lyndhurst, former home of railroad tycoon, Jay Gould. Overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown, N.Y., Lyndhurst is one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions. Luncheon will be served at Sunset Cove with views of the expansive Hudson River and Tappan Zee Bridge. After lunch we will visit Washington Irving’s Sunnyside, home to America’s first internationally famous author, best remembered now for “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and other short stories.

The bus will leave from the Pathmark/Kmart Shopping Center, located between Routes 70 & 88, in Brick. Boarding will start at 8 a.m. with departure at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $85, which includes entrance to the homes, luncheon, and the driver gratuity. Estimated return time is 6 p.m.
