The 68-year-old Hollywood star plays The Deliverer in an all-new advert for the Bolton-based bakery, and it could be his best role yet.

Stallone is famous for his turn in Rocky - where he gets up at the crack of dawn to race up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to get in shape for his big match.

And, not too dissimilar to that - in this new TV ad the star gets up to work as a truck driver, transporting fresh loaves around the country.

The ad has been dubber The Deliverers - potentially in reference to the actor's famous movie, The Expendables.

Speaking about his role, Sylvester said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Bolton and particularly loved spending time in the bakery.

"Maybe I should have stopped beating up bad guys a long time ago and gone into baking instead."

The ad premieres is set to premiere this evening during the first break of Britain's Got Talent on ITV -  and bosses are no doubt preparing themselves for the reaction on social media.

Sylvester's Expendables co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger recently made his debut alongside the meerkats in the Compare The Market commercials.
