Showear: Android Wear Lock Lets You Set Up Pattern Or Swipe Lock Sequences

For all the lovely things that Android Wear devices provide thus far in their young life, they come with their shortcomings like anything else even if they are rather minute. One of these things is the next to nothing effort you have to put forth to wake up the screen and begin using it, which in most cases is great but sometimes it can become a little annoying if not distracting. It feels almost 100% in terms of being polished, but there could be a couple tweaks made to prevent such an easy unlocking of the watchface if one wanted.

Thanks to the wonderful Android Wear app called Showear: Android Wear Lock, there is now a more lock like feeling you can apply to your Android Wear watchface whenever you need. The app provides you with two familiar lockscreen types that any Android users should know, the pattern and swipe unlock methods that you can find on any Android device. Each method is very easy to set up just from the couple minutes I have spent playing through the app, the only thing I would change is the amount of swipes the user is allowed if they choose the swipe method of unlocking their Android Wear. You can set the sequence to be whatever you like, so naturally I attempted to input the Konami code but to my dismay it only allows a max of five swipes.

Other than that though the app interface looks clean and even though I am not able to test the app for myself just yet on Android Wear, I have high hopes for it and will be glad to try it out once again after the Moto 360 arrives. You have the ability to make the lockscreen opaque or transparent to suit your taste, and something that every Android Wear owner can probabably appreciate, lower power consumption due to the screen brightness reduction. Yes, that right there is a nifty little feature. If you wish to pick up and try out Showear: Android Wear Lock for yourself, you can do so by hitting the Play Store link. The app is free, so use it to your heart’s content.
