Men Charged with Theft of Gold Coins in Greenwich
Greenwich Police say one of the suspects was hired as a handyman and allegedly stole the coins from his employer.

A town resident who hired a Greenwich handyman didn’t expect the work to include cleaning out their coin collection.
Michael J. Verdon, 23, of 9 Armstrong Ct., Greenwich, was hired by the unidentified victim to perform handyman work in the victim’s home. Verdon is accused of stealing gold coins and other collectible currency from the residence on Oct. 20, according to a Greenwich Police report.
Verdon and a second Greenwich resident, identified by police as Eric M. Schnaer, 39, of 70 Lewis St., “conspired with the thief and another co-conspirator to pawn the stolen property at pawn shops” in Connecticut and New York, according to the report. Police were able to recover the stolen coins and currency valued between $5,000 and $10,000.
