Silver Spring, Maryland, Makerspace Being Organized

CatylatorMakerspace

A few months ago I attended a Congressional Maker Caucus event at the House of Representatives, in Washington DC.  The meeting room was packed with people. More than 30 persons were forced to stand at the back.  At that moment I got to thinking, “Why aren’t there more makerspaces in the Washington DC-area?”

Apparently others have been thinking similar thoughts.  On Tuesday, Dec 16, 2014, a meetup will be taking place to chart a plan for a makerspace in Silver Spring, Maryland — a close-in suburb of Washington DC.  The person spearheading this initiative is Stephen Morris, a mechanical engineer who also has a lot of business experience.  Here is a short audio interview I did with Stephen to find out more about his background and vision for the makerspace.

If you live in the DC/Baltimore metropolitan area and can’t make it to this meeting, do please pass along word to other makers you know who might be interested in using this makerspace. I’ll be there at the meeting. We’d love to see some Annapolis, Maryland, folks there, too.
