1. You can see the sun rise...
...and set over the water.
2. With rules limiting light pollution the stars are a great site, as well.
3. There are plenty of talented dudes and babes that live here.
4. We stay in the water year-round.
5. People pick up beach glass/trash that washes ashore and upcycle it to create some beautiful things.
6. There are over 2,500 shipwrecks off our coastline. Every once in a while a storm will uncover some early american history.
...which is where we got the nickname "Graveyard of the Atlantic."
These are a few that have surfaced so far this year.
7. Dogs pretty much own the beaches during off-season.
8. Wild horses roam our northern beaches. There are beaches on the Outer Banks that only allow 4x4 vehicles. No roads, only houses and horses.
9. We're all about renewable energy and our eco-system.
and many people here depend on it.
10. Lastly - We're just a small barrier island with a few local residents that welcomes thousands of tourists each and every summer.
