Sex Assault Case Against Stamford HS Teacher is Continued

The teacher accused of threatening to fail her student if he didn't have sex with her is reportedly a patient at behavioral health center.

The case against the Stamford High School teacher accused of threatening to fail an 18-year-old student if he did not have sex with her has been continued as she continues to receive treatment in a rehab center.

Danielle Watkins, 32, of Norwalk, was arrested in July on charges she had sex with her student and provided him and a friend with marijuana. According to The Advocate, Watkins was unable to make her scheduled arraignment Thursday at state Superior Court in Stamford because she is receiving care at the BlueSky Behavioral Health center in Danbury.

Watkins’ lawyers said his client is committed to her treatment and received permission from a Stamford judge to postpone her arraignment until Sept. 22. The lawyer reportedly said he was certain Watkins would plead not guilty to the charges when she is able to come to court on the charges — two counts each of sexual assault and sale of marijuana, and one count of risk of injury to a minor. She is free on $100,000 bond.
