Bristol Palin‘s ex-fiancé, Dakota Meyer, has broken his silence after her unexpected pregnancy announcement on Thursday, yet still remains mum on the subject of possibly becoming a father.

In a post to his personal Facebook page, Meyer, a former U.S. Marine, wrote that the mass media is overshadowing news stories of terrorism and putting on a “dog and pony show.”

“Within the past 24 hours there have been three terrorist style attacks across the world,” he wrote on Friday. “There has been an incident at a U.S. company owned gas factory in Lyon, France Leaving one dead and two injured. Another incident in Tunisia with 28 people lost in an assault on a west tourist, mostly British. And finally, a blast at a Shiite mosque in Kuwait.”

The 27-year-old shared a photo of himself with the post, sitting on a couch in a robe with a smoking pipe balanced in his mouth. In the image he’s also reading a Marine handbook and holds a sword across his lap. The photo has “Still waiting…” written across the bottom.

“All ISIS/ISIL attacks and all overshadowed by the dog and pony show being put on here domestically by some politicians and mass media,” the post continued. “The news that feeds the ‘inquiring mind want to know’ is inconsequential compared to that which is truly relevant but lost on the back page. I urge you to go beyond what is spoon fed to you and see what is truly going on out there.”

Palin also shared her own message on Friday, saying she was ignoring the negativity.

Palin, 24, told fans she’s expecting her second child through a blog post on the website Patheos, just weeks after calling off her May 23 wedding to Meyer.

The canceled nuptials were initially announced by Palin’s mother, former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin.

“Bristol and Dakota couldn’t be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding,” Sarah wrote on May 18. “They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration will not be held.”

Palin and Meyer, who is only the third living recipient of the U.S. Medal of Honor since Vietnam, were engaged in March 2015.

The former Dancing With the Stars contestant is already mother to Tripp, 6, her son with ex-fiancé Levi Johnston.

Palin has yet to announce the father of the baby, but expressed dismay over the pregnancy.

“I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect [my son] Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy,” she wrote in her blog post.
