Durst is the son of the late Seymour Durst, a big name in New York real estate. He began making headlines in the early ’80s when his wife disappeared and then again in 2001 when his elderly neighbor was found dead. Durst eventually went to court for his neighbor’s death, but avoided a murder conviction by pleading self-defense. Durst has also been connected to another crime, the 2000 death of a Los Angeles friend. His Saturday arrest is in connection to that alleged homicide.
