PM should rein in his jingoistic ministers, Congress says
NEW DELHI: Congress on Thursday accused Modi's ministers of triumphalism that can be dangerous, warning that restraint should be the watchword on issues of special operations and national security.
Reacting to statements from the ruling camp post-Myanmar operations, AICC spokesman Anand Sharma said, “There should be sobriety and maturity. Jingoism and boastful claims are not going to help the operations of India's special forces.“
While calling defence minister Manohar Parrikar as being in the habit of “putting his foot in the mouth with irresponsible remarks“, Sharma poked fun at minister of state Rajyavardhan Rathore's remark about “56-inch chest“ saying, “The PM is not entering a WWF boxing match.“
“PM should restrain his ministers so there is no repeat,“ he said, and added that the PM should have drawn a lesson from the Nepal experience.
