  • The company behind Reason has rolled out a new tool for producer collaboration. Propellerhead—also the name of the software maker, whose other products include ReBirth, Figure and Take—will allow anyone who signs up to work on music together, whether they're already close collaborators or relative strangers. The video below (which originally teased the service back in January) outlines the process: a user starts a track using Propellerhead's software or one of their mobile apps and uploads it to their servers. Then, anyone can hop in, add their own parts and re-upload it, keeping the process going. The software's API is available to other developers, so that music software outside the constellation of Propellerhead apps can get the same functionality. The social platform is now available through web browsers and is coming soon to iOS and Android.
