PNR to cancel some trips this holiday season


(Updated 6:14 p.m.) The Philippine National Railways' Metro Commuter line will cancel some late trips on Christmas and New Year's Eves, and some early trips on Christmas and New Year's Days.
 
In a post on its Facebook page late Tuesday afternoon, the PNR said the revised schedule is part of its "Oplan Krismas."
 
Under the schedules:
 
  • Dec. 24: eight canceled trips, last trip from Tutuban to Alabang at 5:37 p.m., last trip from Alabang to Tutuban at 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 25: 18 canceled trips, first trip from Tutuban to Alabang will be at 9:07 a.m.; first trip from Alabang to Tutuban will be at 10:30 a.m.
  • Dec. 31: 10 canceled trips, last trip from Tutuban to Alabang at 4:37 p.m.; last trip for Alabang to Tutuban at 6 p.m.
  • Jan. 1: 24 canceled trips, first trip from Tutuban to Alabang at 11:37 a.m.; first trip from Alabang to Tutuban at 1 p.m.
 
 
With the new route, PNR operations will be extended to 56 kilometers from the current 53 kilometers.
 
In December 2013, the PNR opened four new stations: Muntinlupa, San Pedro, Biñan, and Sta. Rosa. This was followed by two more station openings in Cabuyao and Mamatid in March.
 
Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said they are rehabilitating the railway system and may soon revive the service to Naga and Legazpi in Bicol. — Joel Locsin/RSJ/NB, GMA News
