PAGASA monitoring Angat's water level in anticipation of Typhoon Ruby

State weather agency PAGASA is keeping watch over Angat Dam in Bulacan should Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) bring heavy rain to Luzon.

Elmer Caringal of the PAGASA hydrometeorology unit said Friday Angat's water level is just five meters below its high water level of 212 meters.

"Ang Angat, may five meters bago ma-reach ang normal high niya. Kung sakaling maapektuhan ito ito ang aming babantayan (The water level at Angat is just five meters below its normal high level. If Ruby's rain affects it, we will keep watch over it)," Caringal told dzBB radio's Manny Vargas.

Angat Dam supplies more than 90 percent of Metro Manila's water needs. As of 6 a.m. Friday, its water level is at 207.55 meters.

Meanwhile, Caringal also said they may keep watch over La Mesa Dam in Quezon City, whose water level as of Friday is at 79.09 meters.
