Missouri Governor Jay Nixon to discuss Rams and St. Louis

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The future of the St. Louis Rams remains up in the air and answers on either the city or team side have been impossible to come by as the end of the team's lease at the Edward Jones Dome draws near.

But Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is going to change that on Wednesday morning, at least in theory. Nixon is hosting a conference call with reporters Wednesday morning in which, according to an email, he'll "discuss the situation with the St. Louis Rams and the next step toward keeping St. Louis an NFL city."

Recent rumors have indicated that the city and state are in the process of making a proposal for a new stadium on the St. Louis riverfront. It's possible Nixon will offer some form of outline to that idea in the conference call, which is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. ET.

The timing of the conference call should come as no surprise. With elections ending Tuesday, now would seem a logical time for Nixon to at least offer some answers on where things stand with the future of the NFL in St. Louis.

I'll be posting the fallout of the conference call here soon after it ends. Stay tuned.
