New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is being criticised for keeping mum on the gangrape of a Danish woman in the national capital, on Thursday blamed the Delhi Police for the incident. He also called the state police "a highly compromised force."

“If you don't arrest drug and sex offenders...this is where tendencies of rape begin," Kejriwal said.

He also said that action must be taken against the cops and that he would meet the Lieutenant Governor and Police Commissioner BS Bassi to discuss the issue on Friday.

"Why are rapes happening in Delhi?...If crime does not happen in Delhi, it is not because of the Dehli Police, but inspite of it," Kejriwal said.

Bassi later responded to the statement of Kejriwal and said, "The Delhi Police is capable of protecting people in the city."
