Two touts (hwindis) who stripped a woman for wearing a miniskirt in public have been handed 12 month sentences.
Marvellous Kandemiri and Blessing Chinodakufa were sentenced on Thursday but four months of those are suspended meaning they will serve an effective 8 months in prison.
Prosecution said that a custodial sentence would restore confidence in society that women could walk the streets without fear of victimisation.
The pair were the only to punished after video footage showed the disgraceful incident in Harare.
We now think the police need to go out make it clear at ranks that behaviour of this sort will result in punishment, every single time.
