One Direction members asked to pay ‘drug bond’ before Manila shows
The government of the Philippines thinks One Direction might have got that one thing, and that thing is weed.
The Philippine Bureau of Immigration has requested that two 1D members, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, each post a bond of about $5,000 before playing two concerts at Manila’s Mall of Asia Concert Grounds this weekend.
The move came after a widely circulated video appeared to show the two band members smoking marijuana in Peru.
“The condition is intended to protect the public interest should the band members commit any violation during their stay in the Philippines,” bureau spokeswoman Elaine Tan said in a statement.
Tan said that if Malik and Tomlinson failed to post the requested amounts they would be stopped from performing, and if caught with drugs while in the country, they would lose their bond money.
A group called Anti-Drugs Advocate asked that law enforcement officers attend the band’s concerts to report any drug use. In a statement, Anti-Drugs Advocate spokeswoman Christine Ching said, “We want to see their pure, raw, untainted talent.”
It seems that even anti-drug activists are hooked on smoldering glances from Zayn.
