So David feels pretty prepared when he instructs Arthur to drive his truck (5x03). "Hand for direction" seems like a very pointed script choice and this story delves into why.
Or, it's David who teaches Killian to drive. Turns out, he doesn't need that much instruction and that's why David thinks Arthur will be able to manage driving in 5x03 Siege Perilous.

“Nothing is above that pirate.” And there it was, the fear.
“Captain Hook is not real.” David says with a scoff, making her turn to him in shock.
“That’s usually my line.”
“Captain Hook is a legend.” Mary Margaret says, frowning too.
“More like a children’s story.” Regina complemented, getting near them. “He’s just something parents tell their children to get them to behave, ‘don’t get close to the docks at night or Captain Hook will get you.’, that kind of thing.”
“Every kid in the Enchanted Forest heard a story about him, no matter where they lived. It’s something passed through generations” David finishes, and now Emma had to get through the fact that even the Fairy-tale Land had fairy tales.
“I can guarantee you, dearie, Captain Hook is very real.” Gold says “And you don’t want to cross paths with him. Pray that Pan is the only demon you face in this place.”

Kind of went off from what was planned into a little bit of character analysis of Henry's growth and Killian's pride in him, and David's brotherhood and fatherhood over both of them with a little twist of anti-Neal in the form of explaining what the hell he was in Emma's hell-intro for.

Killian closed his fingers tightly around the opal-colored bean, his only life line. He turned around to face the seemingly rising ground, as the wind tore at his face. He threw the bean, as best as he could seconds from impact and curled up as if he were about to dive into a pool of water. Instead, a green, swirling vortex opened its flashing maw just in time and swallowed him whole.
One single thought went through his mind. A destination longed for most of all. Home. Emma. Storybrooke.An alternative take on Once Upon a Time season 6 finale. In which Killian makes it to Storybrooke and teams up with Henry and Emma starts questioning things, when she realizes Fiona is lying to her. A battle is still on the horizon, but the heroes have a lot of fight left in them.
