If they got the money and room to build it, I say bring it on.
They'd have to put it on the other side of I-485 with taxiways over the hwy (ala -ATL). 18R/36L is right at the side of the interstate now. And on the other side of 18L/36R is Billy Graham Parkway.
I don't see that there's that much traffic at CLT myself. But what do I know? lol.

This has got to do with the merger as there are major terminal expansion plans as well as the runway. I am glad I am not traveling that part of the world as a pax anymore. I loved the rental car locations. You could jump out of Hertz taking the shortcut right out of the lot and with 1 light and left turn onto Little Rock Road then be down to the big road split lickety. Don't know how all that will be once they move them over to the terminal area.
also ala DFW and MEM, but I kinda wonder about the traffic myself. Do they know something we don't. All I know is that their approaches add 20 minutes to any flight from the West.
Agree. The only place I can see is west of I485, and that means an expensive bridge. Not as expensive as the one in ATL that crosses I285 because it has a runway as well as a taxiway.
I wonder if the AA acquisition of US Airways has anything to do with this?

It is supposed to go in between 18C/36C and 18R/36L which is east of I485
