Summary
When Fingon was a small child, he fell through the frozen surface of the Girdled River and was pulled out again by a monster.
Fingon has never forgotten about the creature who saved his life as a child. Now as a newly crowned King following his father's death, he happens upon a stranger at the edge of a forbidden wood, and against the council of his family, invites the stranger into his home.
-----------When Maitimo was young, he saved a boy from drowning and has watched him ever since. Now with his family struggling to survive and the shadow taking over more and more of the forest he makes a deadly deal with a demon and tricks his way into a King's home.
It shouldn't be too hard to kill a human King, right?
