Revised prediction: Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky revises his season prediction at the midway point of the season:

Preseason prediction: 7-9

Revised prediction: 4-12

Why the Titans will finish worse: Well, I figured they’d have four wins at the halfway point, not two. Given how they've played and how the teams on their schedule rate at this point, I think they probably produce a 2-6 mark in their final eight games.

Even marked improvement in areas where they are terrible -- third down chief on the list -- may not be enough for them to produce different results. The Jets at home Dec. 14 and the Jaguars in Jacksonville four days later in a Thursday night appearance now seem like Tennessee’s best chances to win.

Perhaps the Titans don’t win both of those. It would be quite something for this team to win twice in four days. Perhaps they don’t win either.

They pulled what rates as a solid upset with their opening-day win at Kansas City, and the way the league typically unfolds, I would think they'll find a surprise or two somewhere along the way.

Zach Mettenberger threw for 299 yards in his first start. A rookie quarterback is going to have ups and downs, but if he can start hot a few times and connect on big passes, the Titans could spend some time playing with a lead.

That would be something different, and maybe it will get them a couple of wins.

At any rate, I’m coming down from the 7-9 mark I saw when the preseason wound down. It's hard to look at the schedule and imagine a scenario where they go 5-3 the rest of the way. I overshot by a good deal.
