Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Official Story Details Are Rather Confusing

Martin Toney writes:"So you think you know Metal Gear, eh? Well if you haven’t been habitually checking the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s official website, then you’re already out of date when it comes to “official” news. There’s now a story blurb (a short summary) of the stories introduction, which I found to be rather contradictory."

and this means what exactly? EVERYTHING Kojima does is confusing.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3424d ago

If you got a small attention span sure. I mean almost everything is confusing at that point though. It's like the kids that struggle at math. How do you struggle with logical thinking? You don't, you just weren't paying attention.

MilkMan3424d ago

No sir. I challenge you to write me from beginning to end the entire story of Metal Gear. I've tried on my own, with wikis and the database and online interviews and I come up with MAYBE 20% of the story. I've challenged my friends (with promise of payment which I extended to you) if you can write it out for me.
That was 4 years ago and the offer stands.
I have $50 bucks here for the person that can do that.
I want a complete history from the beginning to the end including everything from the wikis to the interviews to the database and whatever else Kojima has scattered throughout the internet.

I haven't understood a damn plot line yet, I like the games, but they live in anime heaven, wrapped up in the subconscious of a Kojima the dreamer.

We just dig it, that's all. So whoever what this available just send me the info and please attach your email so that I can send payment via Paypal.

No offense but i have a feeling you'd dismiss it anyway as incoherent or not exhaustive enough to suit your whims and opinions .

And there is no such thing as properly recapping the whole of MG from start to finish ... you'd do it properly with each game and it's story , even if its a saga .

Some people follow it fine , the rest is a matter of being invested and following it with concentration . There are issues and plotholes each game , but what doesnt ? People still call frickin' Inception as something too complex ...

but either way i'm not going to bother with the challenge , so feel free to assume you've won your wager

I wonder if they played MGS2?

Grave3424d ago

Because Cipher (Zero) never ever uses people to get his dirty work done. Lolz.

DEEBO3424d ago

Because this story is not some halfbaked simple revenge story that most games get.

Most games stories are so simple that when something with depth comes along people with short attention spand are going to get confused.

Story.

Family gets murdered, hero is out for revenge. Simple plot used over and over.

GearSkiN3424d ago

The whole series is confusing

Inception3424d ago

Confusing? Nah, MGS didn't touch the confusing level of Xenogears or Xenosaga.

Imo, if you play MGS 3 than basicly you will understand the core story of MGS, including MGS V.

Baka-akaB3424d ago

Yeah like i said some people just dismiss that kind of game as too convoluted or complex , because they dont fancy it , or dont feel like properly following it .

The same way some people wich couldnt be bothered called stuff like Inception , The Matrix (well the first film) , Lost , Twin Peaks or Interstellar too hard to follow

Inception3423d ago

I can't even believe some people, like milkman up there, who said they still didn't understand MGS story one bit after Konami put a complete database with all timeline, characters, gadgets, etc when they released MGS 4.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan179d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara179d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721179d ago (Edited 179d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus179d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow179d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga195d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19195d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19195d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq195d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger195d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder195d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils195d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder195d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85195d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420195d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim195d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo195d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
