Google Searches Now Come With Interactive Gadget Porn

We spend a lot of time on our tablets and smartphones. You probably also spend a lot of time thinking about buying new ones. You know it. I know it. And of course, Google knows it. That's why they're augmenting your gadget searches with 3D renders of the stuff you're lusting over.

When you use Google Search beginning today, many smartphones and tablets come with a 360-degree spin-a-rama view to get a look at every angle of your desired device. You can also find them on the desktop, by going to the right side and clicking where it says "3D" on the right side. The only set back being that these images are unblemished digital renders rather than actual physical handsets and tablets, but it gives you at least some idea of what you're getting yourself into. That, and the view isn't available for all gadgets, just a seemingly random handful that includes the Nokia 1020, Nexus 10, and Galaxy S5, but not the Nexus 6.

In addition to this new gadget porn feature, when you search for certain items in Google Search on mobile, a sponsored card will pop up, giving a round-up of specs, customer reviews, and places where you can purchase. The ease of getting specs, reviews, and a 360-degree tour all nestled along side a link to Newegg seems like a lucrative business opportunity, but for the most part, it's a win-win for Google and us. These cards are "Sponsored" after all. [Google Blog via VentureBeat]
