Summary
Nearing the end of Law School, Enjolras is bent on confronting the French colonialism from which his family profited. Caught between his own identity as an immigrant and yet and inheritor of the French colonial germ, he rallies his closest friends to start a francophone social justice group to begin confronting this legacy.
Across the city, Grantaire runs in very different circles, making it from pay-check to pay-check and struggling with the fallout of addiction in his own life and amongst those he loves most.
When chance brings these two worlds crashing together, it is doomed to end in blood, but perhaps not before meaning can be found in the messy tangle of it all.
-
Slice of life, dealing with themes of decolonialism, addiction, mental health, class structures, and other heavy themes.
-
« There were corpses here and there and pools of blood. I remember seeing a butterfly flutter up and down that street. Summer does not abdicate. »

Summary
“It is well. Go upstairs. I will wait for you here.”
Javert knew as soon as he had spoken those words to Jean Valjean that he sounded odd. If he sounded odd even to his own ears, to a man who had known him as long as Valjean, he must have sounded like he was speaking in a little-used foreign tongue.
To an extent, he was. Lying well required a comfort with deception that Javert had never possessed, and he had not miraculously acquired it even in this late hour, no matter how convenient it would have been for him to have done so.

Summary
"The summer of 2023 had not been kind to Grace. Whilst the world around her seemed to be losing its mind over Barbenheimer and Taylor Swift tickets, she’d spent much of it curled up in her flat in Jericho."
That is until a madman, known only as the 'Story Teller', sucks her into the classic tale of love, loss, poverty, revolution and tenacity: Les Misérables.
But Grace is a music teacher, not a historian, so 1830's France is like a different world entirely to her.
And then she crosses paths with the Chief Inspector of Police, Inspector Javert. One lonely soul is drawn to another, and despite his better judgenemt, the Inspector feels an urge to protect her, to guide her, perhaps even to fight for her...
He will be her sentinel, and perhaps the stars can guide him to a place of peace also. -

Summary
When it turns out all Cosette really wants as a wedding gift is for her lonely empty-nester, perpetually single father to actually bring a date, Valjean is caught completely off-guard. He knows he's too old and inexperienced to bother with romance, but he can't disappoint Cosette. Now if only he could get someone to pretend to date him—just for one day—all would be well...

Summary
“Who are you?” he had asked, his fist closed around his cudgel.
“Myself,” the answer had come, the man in front of Javert covered in the dirt of the sewers from head to toe.
“Who is that?” Javert had demanded to know, unease spreading in his guts and causing him to clutch his weapon tighter.__
Or: After being attacked by Thénardier in the Parisian sewers, Jean Valjean suffers from memory loss. Javert brings him home with the firm intention to arrest the man as soon as possible.

Summary
“Combeferre needs somebody he can rely on. Normally I tell people that they have their whole life to freak out over somebody’s death, that they shouldn’t freak out where they can see. But with you – Enjolras you are hurting yourself and you are hurting Combeferre and the rest of your friends when you ignore how much you are hurting. This isn’t just about Combeferre anymore, it’s about all your insecurities and fears and your self-hate. This isn’t healthy and sustainable. How long can you go on until you fall and nobody will be able to catch you?”
Enjolras is burning out - badly.
A companion piece to "The Sky's the Limit" from Enjolras' perspective! (Can be read separately)

Summary
The man doesn’t look like he should be there. He doesn’t fit in, and somehow – maybe because of that – he does.
Grantaire stretches out his fingers, they clicked and creak as he does. He can feel the movement travelling through them, setting off small spasms as it does.
He looks at the man again. He’s tall, slim with golden blond hair pulled back into a pony tail off his face. His face, it looks like something carved from marble, perhaps describing a god or some kind of faery creature. His lips are full, his cheekbones sharp, his eyes large and framed in lashes. His hands – long fingered and smooth – tap against his jeans, peeking out from under a bright red winter jacket that looks far too new, far too expensive.
He doesn’t look like an addict.Series

Summary
That unswerving gaze that Valjean had ever felt boring into the back of his neck as he walked the careful tightrope of mayor, of Madeleine. Those gimlet eyes that even as the years had passed assessed and studied, always sharp and quick and stubborn when they alighted upon Valjean; and now, wholly beloved, glimmering before him with suppressed need and longing, the weight of his head supported entirely by Valjean’s hands, the leather stock scraping the thin skin on the inside of Valjean’s wrists.
Valjean said, in the unshakable and implacable voice of power and influence that Javert had always responded to—that even now he wanted to yield to—“Javert. I would like you to do as I tell you, tonight.”
For Valvert Week 2024, theme: "Twilight" / "between dog and wolf."

Summary
The feelings were too big for Enjolras’ tipsy brain to put into words, so he responded by putting his hands under Grantaire’s shirt and tucking his face into Grantaire’s neck. He smelled like dish soap, laundry detergent, and faintly of oil paint. Enjolras opened his mouth and licked at his neck and tasted salt on his skin. Under his hands, Grantaire’s stomach tensed and then relaxed.
Grantaire’s chest was vibrating with sound, and Enjolras registered that he was saying something.
“Enjolras, Enjolras, hey,” Grantaire was repeating.
Enjolras, ever reluctant to take orders, lifted his head.
“Not that I don’t like this,” Grantaire said, sounding deeply put-upon, “but you’re drunk.”
(Enjolras comes home drunk after a night with Courfeyrac and Combeferre, and Grantaire finds out firsthand that Enjolras gets horny when he drinks. He deals with it as best he can.)

Summary
Valjean meant to toss the rose he carried into the rushing waters below but he could not—his fingers would not part with it, no matter how many times he moved to let it go. There was a metaphor in that, he thought, but he was not yet ready to examine it closely.
The sensation of Javert’s presence wrapped around Valjean like the wind as he walked—it did not cradle nor comfort but chilled him through and through, like the cold metal of a shackle clasped around his ankle, trailing a heavy chain. He had long imagined the man’s gaze on him even when it was not, but perhaps now it would follow him forever, no longer bound by the restrictions of flesh and blood.

Summary
“Well, I’m sorry for crashing your hookup,” Joly says, and goes to stand. “Why didn’t you tell me you had someone over? I only came over because I thought you didn’t have plans.”
“Grantaire?”
They both freeze. Grantaire pauses with a mouthful of pastry, and Joly stops in the middle of standing from his chair. Fuck, Grantaire thinks. Fuck, shit, fuck. There is no scenario where Joly didn’t recognize Enjolras’ voice just now, and Grantaire is way too tired to think on his feet and intercept this situation before it explodes.
Enjolras chooses that moment to walk out of the hallway and into the living room.
Or: When Joly inadvertently figures out that Enjolras and Grantaire are together, Grantaire is forced to confront some latent insecurities and Enjolras realizes he might have an issue with communication.
