Revised prediction: Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears reporter Michael C. Wright revises his season prediction at the midway point of the season:

Preseason prediction: 10-6

Revised prediction: 8-8

Why the Bears will finish worse: The second half of the Bears' season shapes up favorably with the club playing five of its last eight at home, but the fact the Bears haven’t yet won a game at Soldier Field doesn’t bring about much optimism regarding their prospects. After a disastrous 3-5 start, the Bears used the bye week to do a critical self-evaluation. But a source with knowledge of the club’s plans said the Bears won’t be changing much in terms of how they attack defenses, so this team will finish 8-8 if it's lucky. That is a scary proposition for this team, which despite possessing superior talent on the offensive side of the ball, continues to produce an inferior product on the field. Jay Cutler leads the league in turnovers (12), and although the team claims it can do some things to help out the quarterback, there is just no way the Bears can turn around all that ails them in one bye week.
