FDA advises public on recalled peanut butter products


Some batches of a brand of peanut butter are being voluntarily recalled due to potential salmonella contamination, the Food and Drug Administration advised the public.

In Advisory 2014-079, the FDA said OneStop Distribution Inc. and Healthy Options Corp. initiated the voluntary recall of Arrowhead Mills products.

Covered by the voluntary recall are:

- Arrowhead Mills Creamy Organic Peanut Butter, 16 oz., AM47052, unit bar code 074333470328, expiry dates Feb. 4, 2015, Dec. 31, 2014 ad May 14, 2015

- Arrowhead Mills Crunchy Organic Peanut Butter, 16 oz., AM47032, unit bar code 074333470526, expiry dates Dec. 31, 2014 and May 14, 2015

FDA OIC Nicolas Lutero III said OneStop Distribution has ordered Healthy Options Corp.'s stores to recall the covered products.

Lutero added the recall involves only the specified batch.

In the meantime, he advised consumers who bought the affected products to call the merchandising department of OneStop at 527-5555 local 4757, or send an email to FDA at info@fda.gov.ph.
