Nexus 6 Rumors And Leaks Continue to Emerge

Published

on

With more and more rumors starting to surface suggesting Google will unveil the Android L release and a few new Nexus devices in October, we’re starting to see an increase in news on the rumored Nexus 6 and HTC Nexus 9 tablet. Last week the first Nexus 6 image surfaced, and now we’re learning more details ahead of the release date.

Over the past few months more rumors have continued to emerge suggesting Google has two new devices in the works. One being a smartphone, and of course the other is a new Nexus tablet. At this point it’s almost confirmed that a Moto-made Nexus 6 is coming soon, and now we have a few additional key details you’ll want to know about.

Initial rumors suggested a massive 5.9-inch smartphone, but lately we’ve also been hearing something similar to the 5.2-inch Moto X could be what Google has in store for its new Nexus smartphone. However, over the past 2-3 weeks multiple reports and leaks have all pointed towards a 5.92-inch Motorola Nexus 6. One that might even arrive on Verizon Wireless. Read on for more details.

Last week images surfaced, reports arrived claiming the 5.92-inch Moto S was actually Google’s next Nexus smartphone, and there’s even a reported release date, but more on that below.

After an unofficial (leak-made) press render surfaced of the Nexus 6 last week along with key information, we now have an actual photo if it in the wild from the same source. While we can’t confirm exactly what’s being shown below, it appears to be a large 5.9-inch smartphone. One that is likely the Nexus 6.

The device is clearly a Motorola smartphone that is extremely large. Bigger than the new 5.2-inch Moto X released in September. We can clearly see the front facing speaker rumored for the Nexus 6, a huge screen, and the most important part being the device is running the unreleased Android 4.5 0r 5.0 “L release” that’s coming sometime this fall. The Motorola logo and all other identifying marks have been blurred to protect the user, one which is likely a Google employee.

Another photo surfaced showing the devices size, a huge case covering it to protect (or try) its identity, as well as a few more important marks. We can see the volume and power button are on the right middle side, rather than the top where a device of this size would be hard to reach. This is Google’s first Nexus of this size, and users may be wary of the huge 5.92-inch screen. One that’s bigger than the incoming Galaxy Note 4.

While this is just an unknown device being used on a bus or subway, it appears to be the upcoming Motorola Nexus 6 running Android L. Again, we can’t confirm anything until Google makes it official, but this matches almost all the reports and rumors we’ve been hearing for the better part of two months now.

So what else is new? Well, according to a few unknown sources Google and Verizon Wireless are finally ready to play nice, and a Verizon Nexus 6 will arrive in 2014. This could be huge news for all parties involved. That being Google, Verizon, Motorola, and of course buyers. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus a few years ago was riddled with issues, and Verizon never updated it to the latest version of Android. It was often 4-5 updates behind.

The Nexus 7 in 2012 also arrived on Verizon eventually, but that was after months of delays and Verizon actually denying buyers access to register the tablet on its network, despite it being fully capable of Verizon 4G LTE. PocketNow sources claim that Verizon is “ready to embrace” the Nexus 6, and will release it once it’s available. We’ll have to wait and see, but take that rumor with a grain on salt.

For now if all reports and rumors are accurate we’ll be seeing a Motorola-built 5.92-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD Nexus 6 with a powerful 2.7 GHz quad-core processor, a 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, and much more. It will be made by Motorola and offer a huge 3,200 mAh battery, run the latest Android L, and could possibly be announced in under two weeks.

A few sources suggest the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 both running the new Android L release will debut in the middle of October, and be released around November 1st. Stay tuned!
