Dolphins pushing to host a Super Bowl?

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins will "host" the New York Jets in London’s Wembley Stadium on Oct. 4, 2015. This will be the second straight year the Dolphins will travel to the United Kingdom. Miami beat the Oakland Raiders in London in September.

But why would Miami make the long trip to London for two straight years?

Jenny Ventras of Sports Illustrated brought up an interesting point Thursday. The NFL has a new rule that requires a future Super Bowl host to play in London. It appears the Dolphins are checking off all the boxes to make another push for the big game. Miami lost its bid last season, partially due to not having renovations to Sun Life Stadium. But renovations are underway and should be complete in the next couple of years.

The Super Bowls are booked through 2018. The earliest bid for Miami would be in 2019, and it appears to be positioning itself for a strong push.

Miami is a great hosting city and it makes sense to once again be a part of the Super Bowl rotation.
